The clearest difference is price: zRef at Free against LaxRef's $1.99. zRef also leads on ratings volume (6 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 26.0). LaxRef's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.0) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 2 months). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
