Wubi when you know the code. Pinyin when you need a hand. RiceKey brings Wubi 86/98, Pinyin and useful everyday tools to a native Chinese keyboard. Look up words, generate candidates and switch Chinese scripts on your device. TYPE YOUR WAY • Pure Wubi, mixed Wubi/Pinyin or pure Pinyin • About 137,000 Wubi 86 entries and 114,000 Wubi 98 entries • Short codes, automatic commit for unique four-code matches and the Z wildcard • Full Pinyin, Xiaohe or Ziranma double Pinyin, initial-letter input and fuzzy pronunciation • QWERTY or nine-key Pinyin, with local frequency learning • Simplified and Traditional output, phrase conversion and alternate-character candidates DO MORE WITHOUT LEAVING THE KEYBOARD • Swipe up on Q–P for 1–0; swipe down for Chinese financial numerals. Digit keys on the number page and number pad support downward swipes too. • Tap # to type it. Hold and slide to select _, *, $, ~, \ or |. • Type 12*3= to calculate directly. • Turn text into a QR code locally, ready for another device to scan. No network or camera access needed. • Clear panel selection and one-tap return. • Follow the system appearance or choose light or dark mode. OFFLINE, WITH CHOICE RiceKey makes no network connections, uploads no typed content and does not proactively read or write the clipboard. No account, ads or third-party analytics SDKs. Core typing works without Allow Full Access. Keyboard sounds and haptics require you to enable it yourself. Full Access grants broader iOS capabilities, but RiceKey keeps its offline behavior. Revoke access and keep typing. Learned frequencies stay in the keyboard's local storage. YOUR DICTIONARY. YOUR PRACTICE. Import your own RIME .dict.yaml or text dictionaries and add custom words. Learn Wubi 86 radicals, practise characters and passages, and track mistakes and progress. Wubi 98 supports character and passage practice; Wubi 98 radical quizzes are not included. GET STARTED Requires iOS 16 or later. Enable RiceKey in Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard. Wubi and English use QWERTY; nine-key layout is for Pinyin. Financial numerals are entered one digit at a time, without converting whole amounts. Sounds depend on silent mode and volume; haptics need device and system support. In-app practice has separate feedback settings. Secure fields and apps that disallow third-party keyboards may use the system keyboard. Text entered into another app is handled under that app's features and privacy policy. LEARN THE SHORTCUTS Quick Start > Typing Guide offers illustrations, replayable finger demos and a separate practice area for digits, Chinese numerals, symbols, calculations and QR codes. Open QR directly from the toolbar icon to the left of Settings. With Full Access on, keyboard settings can open the main app for more lessons. With it off, local illustrations and manual opening instructions remain available; no permission is required to learn. Supports Dynamic Type and Reduce Motion.
