RTV Zulthe is de roepnaam van Stichting RTV Zulthe. Tot 1 januari 2020 was de naam Omroep Westerkwartier. Bij de oprichting van de omroep was de naam Stichting Lokale Omroep Marum. Nadat de gemeenten Marum en Grootegast in 1999 besloten de Lokale Omroep voor beider gemeenten te steunen, is de naam destijds gewijzigd naar Stichting Lokale Omroep Marum en Grootegast. De Stichting Lokale Omroep Marum werd op 2 februari 1992 opgericht. In 1999 werden de statuten van de stichting aangepast aan de wens om een omroep voor Marum en Grootegast te vormen. De nieuwe naam RTV Zulthe is gekomen nadat de omroep, naast de Gemeente Westerkwartier ook de gemeente Noordenveld mag bedienen. De naam Zulthe komt van het Zulthermeer, de voorloper van het Leekstermeer. Het Leekstermeer is de verbinding tussen het Noordenveld en het Westerkwartier. Met de naam Zulthe willen we als omroep laten zien dat we een verbindende rol hebben.
