Retelle

Retelle will help you curate your life events and stories. With a personal timeline you will never forget events, people or places. Too often it happens that amazing memories are forgotten since we rely on remembering them by accidental association while talking about similar stories or events. With Retelle you can go back and relive the moments and experiences of your life, make sure you are not forgetting anything and very easily reconstruct the timeline of all important memories. It is easy to forget these events because we don't think about the very often and we believe this app will help you with that. With Retelle you can go through your timeline and refresh your memory before going out with friends so you don't miss any important experiences that happened. For example, meeting a friend that you've seen a year ago, you can easily scroll through events from the last year and retelling them becomes much easier. Anything that you find interesting can be put on a timeline: stories, pictures, contacts, e-mails, links to news, videos, images that you found and want to save them so you can share your experience with others. At this point App has the essential features to start documenting your life and in the future I will be adding more capabilities like: searching and filtering of your timeline, adding locations and tags, adding multiple images and videos, summaries for a time period and much more. Light/dark mode, font size and some other settings are read from the phone and cannot be changed from inside the app. In the future there will be an option to change these settings. Most importantly: all the data is yours! Every piece of data is stored on the local file system and no one except for you has access to it. PureWrite

PureWrite is a writing app that gets out of the way. Open a folder of Markdown files you already keep, open a document, and start typing. The file sidebar and the table of contents fade out completely โ not dimmed, gone โ until only the page is left. Move the pointer back and they return. Nothing else is on screen. No tabs, no split panes, no graph, no badges, no notifications, no sync spinner. One document at a time, by design. That is the whole idea. Everything else is there to serve it. โข A folder you already have. No import step, no vault format, no database. The same folder can stay an Obsidian vault or a git repository โ keep using them. PureWrite is simply the window you open when the task is to write. โข Formatted text, plain files. You edit the document as it looks, and the file on disk stays ordinary Markdown โ tables and links included. โข Search the whole folder for the moment you do need to leave the page, with the context around every match. โข Footnotes and images, kept in the file as you wrote them. Drop an image in or paste a screenshot, and it is saved beside the document. โข Focus mode and typewriter scrolling, find and replace, quick open (โP), and a word count that stays out of sight until you look for it. โข A first-line indent that makes long text read like a printed page โ on the right in Hebrew, on the left in English โ and undo and redo right in the toolbar. โข A toolbar you can pare down to nothing. Keep as many of the 18 buttons as you want, or none. โข Hebrew and English in one document, each paragraph facing the direction its own words ask for, with nothing written into your file to make it work. โข Autosave a second after you stop typing. There is no save button to remember. Nothing leaves the device: no network, no account, no telemetry. macOS, iPhone and iPad. Free, with no in-app purchases.

Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: PureWrite at none against Retelle's shown. On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
