Stoicism is a school of Ancient Greek philosophy, founded by Zeno of Citium in Athens BCE. According to Stoicism, the world is constructed in a reasonable, coherent, and beneficent way by a force known as the “Logos” (God, Providence, etc.). This means that everything that happens in life (except for what we control) has been ordained to happen for a particular reason, one that is good for ourselves or society. The “Logos” exists in the external world, but also within ourselves as our capacity for reason and virtue. If everything that happens is for a good reason, then it follows that we use our own reason and virtue to live in harmony with whatever that is. Stoicism provides a philosophical practice (meditations, exercises, etc.) to do just that. You’ll learn these practices in Stoic Nature. Our Mission?
