About

Cards

I'm learning a new language, and one day I thought: why carry paper flashcards around when my phone is always with me anyway? That's how the Cards app came to be. It's very simple. You add a word, the translation fills in on its own, and you can write the transcription the way you pronounce it. Every word becomes a card in your gallery. Open a card and tap it to flip it over: that's how you check yourself. What's inside: • A gallery of your cards in a clean grid • Tap to flip: the word on one side, the translation and transcription on the other • Shuffle mode, so you learn the words and not their order • Translations-first mode, to recall the word the other way around • Search by word or translation • A language filter, if you study more than one • A Learned section: mark words you know and bring them back whenever you want • Word pronunciation, for languages with a voice on your iPhone • Add words from any app with the Share button • A daily reminder with one word from the cards you are learning • iCloud sync: your cards come back when you switch phones or reinstall the app • A Home Screen widget: a new random card every hour, reveal the translation with one tap, or shuffle to the next word. Choose the languages and the color • A Lock Screen widget that opens Add Card in one tap Cards is minimal, calm and built in the style of iOS. Nothing extra, no sign-up, no ads, and completely free.
