• Gentle, natural, or aggressive and colorful compressor • Combine different dynamic processors into a single and easy to use unit • 3-Band input tone controls with adjustable crossovers and saturators • Split/Sum frequency bands before compression • Two dynamic controls: Downward or Upward • Range and knee controls to limit compression depth • Parallel compression and master Brickwall limiter • Sidechain and multi-outs support • Precise metering with decibel values • Advanced Responsive Design, portrait and landscape views • AuV3 for iOS (iPad/iPhone) Compressors are probably the most used audio processors and you surely know what it's all about and how it can help to control the dynamic range of your audio signal. So let's get straight to what makes FAC Medusa a new versatile and characterful compressor! FAC Medusa combines different dynamic processors into a single and easy to use unit, the input signal flows along the following stages: 1) "Pre-amp with tone control and saturation circuit" The input signal is split into three bands of frequencies (Low, Mid and High) according two adjustable crossover points. Setting the level and the saturation amount of each frequency band will definitely make the effect more natural or characterful. 2) "Compression" In addition to the usual controls you may expect, FAC Medusa also provides two types of compression. Downward compression, which is obviously the most common, decreases the level of audio signal above the threshold. And also Upward compression which is less known, despite powerful, and increases the level of audio signal below the threshold. The compression can operate either on the SUM of the frequency bands (L+M+H) or on each frequency band coming from stage 1. 3) "Parallel compression and Brickwall limiter" The master Brickwall limiter is optional and will ensure that the output of stage 2, possibly blended with the original audio signal, remain under control. The limiter comes with threshold and release time controls. As you have realized FAC Medusa has many faces: gentle, natural, or aggressive and colorful. Choose the one you want and be prepared for an exciting sound design experience. Whether you are a budding music producer or passionate amateur musician in any genre, you will definitely find a happy use for it! - AuV3 and Standalone App - To use the sidechain and/or to output the additional three bands, you need a host able to provide to the AuV3 an input bus and three additional output busses The documentation is available at fredantoncorvest.com/FAC_Medusa.html

LevLr Compressor / limiter Plugin (AUv3) LevLr is an audio effect plugin that can run standalone, or in any AU compatible host application such as Logic or GarageBand. Overview The LevLr "leveller" is a super simple dynamics processor with just two modes and two controls. If you find tinkering with compression ratios, makeup gain and attack / decay times, confusing or time-consuming, you might like to give LevLr a try, especially as it's free! Parameters Active - Toggles the effect On or Off. Mode - Changes between Comp (compressor) and Limit (limiter) mode. Typically you would use Comp on an individual track, and Limit on a master output. In - Determines how hard you drive the compression "circuit". As you increase the gain, the compression effect will become more obvious, with an overall increase in perceived volume and "weight". Out - Allows you to reduce the output in cases where you have the desired amount of compression, but the track is now too dominant in your mix. You generally don't need to adjust this unless your In setting is more than about 6dB. With so few controls, it's pretty easy to dial-in LevLr to taste, but it also has three very simple presets to get you going: Default - a general-purpose Comp setting that can help a track sit in the mix a bit better. Track Compressor - this is heavier / more obvious compression, with a little gain compensation. Master Limiter - this can work well on a master bus and makes everything seem LOUDER! That's pretty much all there is to it, but for the technically minded... The In value is basically the compression threshold, so for example 6dB means compression will kick-in somewhere around the -6dB level. The compression ratios used are 4:1 and 12:1 for Comp and Limit mode respectively. Automatic gain compensation is applied internally depending on the threshold and ratio. The attack time is extremely fast (close to 0ms) meaning that LevLr should handle just about anything you can throw at it without exceeding 0dB at its output.
