Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Day Clock at none against Zinnia TV's 2. Day Clock also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.3) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). Zinnia TV's advantage is review sentiment (71% vs 50%) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, ratings volume, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Zinnia TV sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Day Clock asks for nothing beyond the download.
Day Clock holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 14 and 6 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Zinnia TV's written reviews are positive against 50% of Day Clock's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Zinnia TV ships an update every 3 months, Day Clock every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
