Podform3D vs MTECH Orthotics Scan

Podform3D digital scanning tool empowers healthcare providers with custom-made lower extremity orthoses made from highly accurate 3D scanning to intuitive Rx writing. Podform3D uses your iPhone’s system of sensors, cameras, and a dot projector to create a detailed 3D scan of your patient’s foot and order 3D-printed custom foot orthoses with incredible accuracy and speed. The TrueDepth camera system detect the foot with a flood illuminator. An infrared camera will then take an image, and a dot projector will project out over 30,000 invisible infrared dots. This system uses the infrared image and the infrared dots, and pushes them through neural networks to create a mathematical 3D model. The app asks permission to use your camera (front-facing). When you allow the app to use the camera, the permission to use the depth-sensing camera is also provided. The app does not store, collect, or transfer any picture or video data out of your phone. The app may upload 3D scan data (point cloud and mesh) to our servers, when you initiate such an upload explicitly.
