degenerates is end-to-end encrypted messaging for people who still believe conversations should be private. No phone number. No email. No contact upload. Sign in with a passkey, get a private account, and start chats with the people you actually want to talk to. Built on the Matrix protocol. Your messages and selected attachments are end-to-end encrypted, so the server stores ciphertext it cannot read. The network is invite-only and closed to outside servers — there is no public directory to be found in, and nobody joins who wasn't invited. It is made for smaller rooms, quieter groups, and conversations that do not need to be tracked, profiled, or turned into content. What you get: - End-to-end encrypted one-to-one and group messaging - Passkey-only sign-in — no phone number, email, or password - Invite links and QR codes instead of a public directory - Encrypted photos, videos, files, and voice messages - Stickers, animated stickers, and sticker reactions - Reactions, replies, and message editing - Shared location messages - Read your conversations offline - Link previews off by default — nothing is fetched until you tap - Group controls for who can post and who stays - Rich text formatting on iOS 26 — bold, italic, links, and inline code - Push notifications that never carry message content - No ads, no tracking SDKs, no contact upload
