AstroNights
Read full descriptionHide full description
AstroNights helps you plan a photographing or visual night at your site. See nautical dusk and dawn, moon illumination, and a seeing score for the coming nights. The weather chip follows tonight’s forecast, including rain. Pick a saved observing site or use Current GPS. Browse DSOs, planets, and comets with live altitude, framing versus your camera FOV, an AstroBin search link, and an altitude graph. Filter DSOs to objects above 10° in nautical night and large enough in your field of view. Star targets as favorites (thumbnail, catalog name, common name, size). Expand a row for Wikipedia notes and a NINA Advanced Sequencer JSON export. Weather defaults to 7Timer (cloud, seeing, transparency). You can switch to OpenWeatherMap or meteoblue with your own API key. Catalog data includes OpenNGC (CC BY-SA 4.0) and Gary Imm’s Deep Sky Compendium Top 200 (used with permission; https://www.garyimm.com/compendium). The full Compendium can be imported. Object photos come from your library, Flickr CC, Wikimedia Commons, ESO, ESA/Hubble, or DSS. AstroBin opens as a search link; photographers retain their rights.
