Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: PicSolve at none against My Study Mate's shown. PicSolve also leads on ratings volume (7.5K vs 385). My Study Mate's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 39%) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 9 days). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PicSolve sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and My Study Mate sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
My Study Mate holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PicSolve has 7.5K ratings behind it against 385, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 39% of PicSolve's written reviews are positive against 67% of My Study Mate's.
PicSolve ships an update every 9 days, My Study Mate every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
