Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: AI Chat at free with in-app purchases against PhotoSolve's subscription. AI Chat also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. AI Chat sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $2.99 per month and PhotoSolve sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
AI Chat holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.7K and 1.4K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of AI Chat's written reviews are positive against 72% of PhotoSolve's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
AI Chat ships an update every 3 weeks, PhotoSolve monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
