Want to learn Japanese? Especially, how to read Japanese? J Hop is an evolutionary collection of mini games for learning to read hiragana, katakana, and kanji while mastering thousands of vocabulary. Playing these mini games will help you develop reflexive recognition of Japanese text! Seems simple, yet packed with great variety, playfulness, and power. J Hop is squishy, delightful, and really, just useful! This app is perfect for true beginners, JLPT test-takers, and even the most veteran learners. It's perfect to pick up and play any time. While it's cute and fun, it's ultimately effective for all comers. In this app, you start as a simple little slime ball. But when you learn, you evolve! Each evolution sees you become a new cute animal, and each mini game can bring a new surprise! Most Japanese learners know the other classics of Japanese kanji practice - they are trusted, powerful tools. But they get repetitive, and aren't exactly playful or fun. J Hop offers a different approach: kinetic play through simple games that help to develop reflexive recognition. Break up the doldrums and actually feel like you’re learning while having fun! Features: ・Hiragana and Katakana reference charts that let you easily contrast and compare the 2 writing systems ・All Joyo kanji (and a bit more — 2,150 items total), each with onyomi, kunyomi, English meanings, and example vocabulary (jukugo) with learner-friendly readings and translations ・Kanji Search: the search functionality is for all Joyo kanji, and it’s fully unlocked and free for you to reference any time ・Thousands of Playable Kanji divided into 43 units of 50 kanji each (Units 1, 2, and 3 are free from the start, with all others available via in-app purchase) These 9 Mini-Games are free and unlocked, with no ads at all. Ready and waiting for you: ・1) J HopEvolve: an introduction to the characters, a squishy hopping game where you can’t fail — unless you give up ・2) Target Shooter: hunt the missing character, this is my drag-and-shoot tribute to Duck Hunt ・3) Block Basher: timed response, swipe to smash blocks, collect roses, and earn your crown by finishing in time ・4) Word Builder: drag and drop the correct parts in the correct order to build Japanese words yourself ・5) Memory Zapper: become a speed reader by memorizing sequences of flashing Japanese text, you can raise the difficulty to really test yourself ・6) Typing Practice: master the basics of Japanese keyboard input ・7) Flashcards: classic flashcard study is always light and effective, easy to pick up, and easy to put down any time ・8) Midnight Mountain: match Japanese text to pop all the bubbles before sunrise ・9) Spin n Flip: final test, spin the selector wheel to get a word, then choose its match after the cards finish flipping You can dive right in with full access to all the hiragana, katakana, and 1000s of vocabulary words. On the kanji side, Units 1, 2, and 3 (each kanji unit contains 50 kanji) are completely free and unlocked. That's a lot to get anybody started. Life becomes an adventure when every day you can evolve through play. Whether you’re studying for the JLPT, brushing up on kanji, or just starting out with hiragana, J Hop helps you learn faster while having fun. Hello, Japanese learners! My name is eW. There's been no boardroom executives or cold corporate overreach here - J Hop was just made by me, one person with a passion for making Japanese practice fun, effective, and accessible. And again, really, there are no ads. This app is funded only through optional kanji unit purchases, so every upgrade helps support the app's growth and development. I hope you enjoy!

Balls Versus Blocks's advantage is ratings volume (10K vs 1). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.
