The Palimpsest Cities application is designed to help you discover multi-layered cities that have evolved over the centuries with the addition of many architectural layers, side by side or on top of each other. With this app, where a city's historic buildings are displayed on the map and in the list below in the Historic Sites tab, you can explore the details of a site by clicking on it. You can either read or listen to audio. Or, in the Tours tab, you can take tailored thematic tours created for selected historic cities. The Contemporary Spaces tab invites you to discover museums, cafes, restaurants, concert halls and many other places around you. You can further explore Alanya, the hometown of this application, with a timeline, an architectural story and intangible heritage videos in the More tab. This application is an output of the Palimpsest Cities Project, which aims to make a difference in education by bringing gamification and storytelling to the forefront for the sake of architectural history and cultural heritage awareness. Our project, in which we incorporate different games and stories about buildings into education in order to highlight the value and importance of each layer of the multi-layered cities we live in, becomes accessible to everyone thanks to this mobile application. It is also possible to add new cities to the list of cities available in the application.
