Charis Attendance

Charis Attendance turns an iPad into a self-serve attendance kiosk. Mount the device by the door, sign in once as an admin, and leave it running. Students hold their printed QR code up to the front camera, see their own name confirmed on screen, and step aside. The camera re-arms immediately ā no tapping, no waiting, no queue backing up in the corridor. BUILT FOR THE MORNING RUSH ⢠The front camera stays live all day and the screen never sleeps mid-queue ⢠Every scan is confirmed by name from a roster cached on the device, so the acknowledgement is instant and never waits on the network ⢠A large green confirmation and an audible beep ā clear from the back of the line ⢠Repeat reads of the same code are ignored, so a card held steady in frame records once WORKS WHEN THE WIFI DOESN'T ⢠Scans taken during an outage are saved on the device and sent automatically once the connection returns ⢠Queued scans keep the time they actually happened, not the time they were finally uploaded ⢠The queue survives a force-quit or a restart, so nothing is lost if the iPad is switched off before the network is back ⢠An on-screen badge tells staff how many scans are still waiting, and flags any that failed MADE FOR A SHARED DEVICE ⢠Admin sign-in only ā the account signed in owns every scan the kiosk records ⢠Settings, including logout, sit behind a password gate that re-locks as soon as the screen loses focus ⢠Give each kiosk a name so attendance records show which door a student came through ⢠Light and dark themes to suit the room ⢠Stays signed in between sessions, and can sign in even with no connection WHAT IT DOESN'T DO No photos or video are recorded. The camera is used only to read QR codes, and the app never asks for microphone access. Charis Attendance is an internal tool for Charis staff and students. A Charis administrator account is required to sign in, and attendance records sync to your organisation's Charis system.
