ProRemote is the World's first 32 channel touch sensitive control surface that fits in the palm of your hand. ProRemote allows you to control your Audio applications wirelessly using your existing Wi-Fi network. Get realtime meter data and control your rig from across the room with flying faders! One binary runs on your iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch! - Are you behind the drums and need to check your levels and press record? - Do you frequently need to be in two places at the same time? - Do you like sitting on the couch and playing guitar instead of being glued to the computer? ProRemote is your solution! ProRemote is free to try or you can subscribe to all the features or just a subset. If you only need basic control, just the transport subscription can be added. Or have a look at ProTransport, an inexpensive "transport only" solution for controlling your rig. ProRemote on an iPad is like having four Mackie Control Universal Pros, but better because it's wireless and much less expensive. You get almost $4k of hardware for the price of ProRemote. And ProRemote also works on your iPhone and iPad, or both at the same time. Need an XY controller? Check out Pro XY. Use gravity to turn your knobs! Pro XY can also be unlocked in ProRemote. MIDI pads for drum programming or other tasks sounds nice, right? ProPads is your solution and can also be subscribed to within ProRemote. ProRemote also contains a virtual mouse and keyboard that allows full control of your audio machine for those hard to reach places! You can see and control your full computer from anywhere in your studio! This version officially supports: - ProTools - Apple Logic - Ableton Live - Soundtrack Pro - Digital Performer Unofficially we support (no skin or custom fader tapers, not all features may work): - Cubase - MIO Console - Sonar - Reaper - Reason - Vegas - FL Studio - Studio One - Audition - Tracktion - Final Cut Pro - Any audio software that supports Mackie Control protocol (or HUI protocol). ** You must download ProRemoteServer in order to use ProRemote. ** Please visit www.folabs.com/download.html to download the server. ProRemote is Mac only- Windows is unofficially supported via the new CoreMIDI feature that uses Apple CoreMIDI instead of our own protocol. Use rtpMIDI on Windows. CoreMIDI is not officially supported because it is buggy. ** PLEASE report bugs to us instead of leaving a bad review! ** Send a bug report to support@folabs.com and we will fix the bug ASAP as we work on the next release. We want this release to be as rock-solid as our last version so you can focus on making music. * Please note that certain Avid or Digidesign Ethernet based control surfaces can interfere with ProRemote's ability to control all 32 channels. In some cases ProTools will limit MIDI control surfaces to eight channels only. Please contact us before purchasing if you are unsure. * We will no longer support any iOS less than iOS 14 with this release. * For those users with older devices that cannot run iOS 14, just stay with the older version of ProRemote, it is still fully supported and can still be restored from the AppStore without problems. * Terms of Use: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

MidiController turns your iPhone/iPad into a complete MIDI controller, that works over USB, WLAN or Bluetooth. No additional software needed! Send all possible Notes, Continuous Controller / Control Change and Program Change values to the connected device. Build your workspace from the ground up with unlimited, custom Pushes/Buttons and Sliders. All Pushes/Buttons and Sliders are completely customisable - customize every value of every control possible and how the control behaves. You can even create dynamic controls (e.g. Program Change values that count up or down). • Works with every macOS: From 10.5 (Leopard) up to the newest 10.15 (Catalina) • Works on every iPhone and iPad • Also works with external hardware (e.g. synths,...) that supports Apple (CoreMidi) • If your hardware/PC does not support CoreMidi, you can use an iPhone/iPad compatible MIDI-Interface as bridge to make MidiController work with ALL MIDI devices Works with every application that supports MIDI-Input. Example DAWs (Digital Audio Workstation): * Logic X Pro * Ableton Live * Avid Pro Tools * Propellerhead Reason * Steinberg Cubase * Cockos Reaper * and many more (in principle every application that supports midi input) ** NOTES ** • MidiController does not play any sound itself, it only sends out MIDI-Information to connected devices. • MidiController is primary created to work with macOS-Devices. If you want to use MidiController with hardware that does not support Apple CoreMidi, you might need an iPhone/iPad compatible MIDI-Interface as bridge. A MIDI interface typically connects to your iOS per lightning port and provides standard MIDI DIN ports to connect to your hardware. There are also bluetooth MIDI interfaces that connect wirelessly. • MidiController does not receive any MIDI-Information, it generates and sends them itself depending on the user-input. ______________________________________________ APP USAGE INFO & MIDI CONTROLLER SUBSCRIPTION DETAILS Should you choose to upgrade to a midi controller subscription, payment will be charged to your iTunes account at confirmation of purchase. Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Midi Controller at 4.1 against ProRemote's 3.3. Midi Controller also leads on ratings volume (42 vs 7). ProRemote's advantage is review sentiment (54% vs 41%) and iOS requirement (14.1 vs 17.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. ProRemote sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per year and Midi Controller sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Midi Controller holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Midi Controller has 42 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of ProRemote's written reviews are positive against 41% of Midi Controller's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
ProRemote ships an update every 4 months, Midi Controller every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
