Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: SOS On at 5.0 against Remote Desktop's 2.9. Remote Desktop's advantage is ratings volume (151 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

SOS On holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Remote Desktop has 151 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Remote Desktop's written reviews are positive against 50% of SOS On's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Remote Desktop ships an update every 4 months, SOS On every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
