Age Test is a tone generator and sound viewer for the science class. Turn the aluminium knob to play any pitch from 20 Hz to 22 kHz, watch it on a live spectrum, and find the highest tone each listener reports hearing. LISTEN • Press the knob to play, turn it to tune: 8 to 22 kHz in 0.1 kHz steps, or the full range from 20 Hz • Sweep slowly upward, so a room can keep hands up while they still hear the tone • Left ear, right ear or both • A frequency readout with plain context for every pitch SEE THE SOUND • The microphone draws a live spectrum and names the loudest pitch • A tone still stands as a peak after the hands have gone down HOW HIGH? • Tones from 8 to 20 kHz, one kHz apart, with hidden silent checks against guessing • Set a comfortable volume first; turning it up during the tones stops the check • Shows the highest tone you reported hearing, with this equipment and volume. It plays selected tones and stops at the first one you miss, so it is not an exact hearing limit. IN CLASS Human hearing is commonly described as reaching from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, and the highest pitches tend to fade first as ears age. Age Test lets a class hear, and see, where that edge sits with the equipment in the room. FOR LEARNING, NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE Age Test does not assess anyone's hearing and says nothing about the health of their ears. If you are worried about your hearing, see an audiologist. Free, with no ads and no account. Nothing leaves your device: the microphone is only analysed on the device, never recorded.
