Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Big Words at 65% against ContactsPro HX's 22%. Big Words also leads on ratings volume (29 vs 5) and price ($0.99 vs $1.99). ContactsPro HX's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 3.4) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 4 months). On ads, in-app purchases, chart position and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

ContactsPro HX holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Big Words has 29 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of Big Words's written reviews are positive against 22% of ContactsPro HX's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Big Words ships an update every 4 months, ContactsPro HX every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
