Heart Murmurs Pro is a cardiac auscultation trainer for medical and nursing students, residents, and anyone studying how to tell heart sounds apart by ear. Listen to 24 heart sounds and murmurs. For each one, see a labelled waveform showing exactly where the sound falls in the cardiac cycle, a diagram of the auscultation site it belongs to, and the study notes that go with it — then test yourself. This is a study aid, not a clinical tool. Nothing in it is meant to guide decisions about a real patient's care. FREE TO TRY Five sounds are free — normal, aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, mitral stenosis and the S3 gallop — each with its waveform, its auscultation site and its study notes, and you can quiz yourself on them. One purchase unlocks the other 19 sounds and the study tools described below. No subscription. WHAT'S INSIDE • 24 heart sounds and murmurs — from normal S1/S2 to aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, pericardial friction rub and summation gallop • A labelled waveform for every sound, with systole and diastole marked and S1, S2, A2, P2, ejection clicks, opening snaps and gallops called out where they actually occur • Half-speed playback, for murmurs that go by too fast at full speed • Compare any two sounds — a murmur against normal, or against the one you keep mistaking it for — and switch between them with one tap • Auscultation site diagrams showing where each sound is heard best • Seven sections of study notes per sound: description, etiology, pathophysiology, physical examination, diagnostic evaluation, clinical presentation and treatment • Room for your own notes on any sound QUIZ YOURSELF Choose which murmurs you want in the pool — everything, one of the built-in sets, your favorites, or a handful you pick — then choose how many questions and start. Five for a quick drill, twenty when you have time. Answer from six options, or name it yourself and score your own recall. Switch on re-asking and a murmur you miss comes back a few questions later, because that is the one you needed to hear again. At the end you get your score and, more usefully, the list of what you missed — with a button to practice exactly those. Every murmur keeps its own record, so the app can show you where you are weak and build a session out of it. BUILT FOR STUDYING • Works completely offline — no account, no sign-in, nothing to set up • Free to download; one purchase unlocks everything, with no subscription and no ads • English, Spanish and Simplified Chinese • Full split-view layout on iPad • Dark Mode • Favorites and search across the whole library • A cardiac exam guide covering auscultation technique, the five listening areas, and the eight characteristics used to describe a murmur Headphones are strongly recommended. Phone speakers roll off the low frequencies that carry S3, S4 and mitral stenosis. Heart Murmurs Pro is an educational tool for learning cardiac auscultation. It is not a diagnostic device and must not be used to diagnose or treat anyone, or to guide decisions about a patient's care. Always defer to your training, your supervisors, and your institution's protocols.

Verdict
The clearest difference is price: Heart Murmurs Pro at Free against ECG Guide's $0.99. Heart Murmurs Pro also leads on rating (5.0 vs 3.6) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). ECG Guide's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and chart position (#65 vs unranked). On review sentiment, ratings volume, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.
