Galaxy Physics in your pocket! Galaxy Collider simulates the universe in your pocket. So brace yourself for the collision of the Milky Way with the Andromeda Galaxy! Galaxy Collider simulates the physics of interacting galaxies by computing the gravitational forces between the stars and the heavy galaxy centers. Galaxy collider features a high performance particle engine that can interactively visualize spectacular galaxy interactions. It uses OpenGL point sprites for rendering thousands of high-quality stars at high frame rates. The parameters of the simulation, such as the number of galaxies and stars, masses, etc. can be changed interactively to explore the infinite number of possible interactions between the galaxies. Galaxy collider uses the build-in accelerometer of IPhone or IPod touch to change viewpoints add real external forces to the simulation. Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is price: Sandbox Planet at Free against Galaxy Collider's $0.99. Sandbox Planet also leads on rating (4.5 vs 3.9) and update cadence (every 3 months vs every 11 months). Galaxy Collider's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 6) and ads (none vs shown). On device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Sandbox Planet holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sandbox Planet has 304 ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 61% of Galaxy Collider's written reviews are positive against 52% of Sandbox Planet's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Galaxy Collider ships an update every 11 months, Sandbox Planet every 3 months. Both last shipped on October 29, 2026.
