Both are free to download. SmartTub sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Duck asks for nothing beyond the download.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Duck against 4.7 for SmartTub. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Duck has 175 ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 83% of Duck's written reviews are positive against 71% of SmartTub's.
Duck ships an update every 3 months, SmartTub every 5 months. Both last shipped on November 1, 2026.
