Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Haunted Planet at 5.0 against Springer's 4.2. Haunted Planet also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Springer's advantage is review sentiment (98% vs 69%) and ratings volume (16 vs 2). On price, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Haunted Planet holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Springer has 16 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 98% of Springer's written reviews are positive against 69% of Haunted Planet's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Springer ships an update every 3 months, Haunted Planet every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
