With Bricksy you have to shoot at bricks to decrease their count as soon as they arrive the bottom of your screen. The more balls you catch during your gameplay, the easier it is to keep alive. It's very easy to play and absolutely fun, because it's completely ad-free and you don't have to pay for anything. But if you like to beat your friends highscore with a little help, you can buy additional shots after you're already game over.

Verdict
Pocket Tanks and Bricksy both sit at 4.3 stars, but that hides the real split: 73% of Pocket Tanks's written reviews are positive against 36% of Bricksy's. Pocket Tanks also leads on ratings volume (1.6K vs 271). Bricksy's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 4 months) and iOS requirement (10.3 vs 12.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pocket Tanks sells 11 one-off in-app purchases and Bricksy sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.3 for Pocket Tanks against 4.2 for Bricksy. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pocket Tanks has 1.6K ratings behind it against 271, so its average is the more settled of the two.
