Verdict
WFUV and WBGO both sit at 4.0 stars, but that hides the real split: 72% of WBGO's written reviews are positive against 13% of WFUV's. WBGO also leads on ratings volume (170 vs 22). WFUV's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.0 for WFUV against 4.0 for WBGO. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WBGO has 170 ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 13% of WFUV's written reviews are positive against 72% of WBGO's.
WFUV ships an update every 8 months, WBGO every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
