Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: StitchTrick at 5.0 against Knit Row Counter's 3.5. StitchTrick also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 15 months) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). Knit Row Counter's advantage is ratings volume (139 vs 1) and review sentiment (55% vs 33%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Knit Row Counter sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and StitchTrick sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
StitchTrick holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Knit Row Counter has 139 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Knit Row Counter's written reviews are positive against 33% of StitchTrick's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Knit Row Counter ships an update every 15 months, StitchTrick every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
