Verdict
The clearest difference is price: Pere at $4.99 against French Dictionary + ©'s $19.99. Pere also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). French Dictionary + ©'s advantage is update cadence (every 4 months vs every 9 months) and ratings volume (78 vs 8). On in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
French Dictionary + © costs $19.99 and Pere $4.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Pere holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: French Dictionary + © has 78 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 90% of French Dictionary + ©'s written reviews are positive against 78% of Pere's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
French Dictionary + © ships an update every 4 months, Pere every 9 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
