Verdict
The clearest difference is price: VerseCloud at Free against cursive's $0.99. VerseCloud also leads on review sentiment (67% vs 29%) and update cadence (monthly vs every 21 months). cursive's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and chart position (#196 vs unranked). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

cursive holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VerseCloud has 49 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of cursive's written reviews are positive against 67% of VerseCloud's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
cursive ships an update every 21 months, VerseCloud monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 9, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
