Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Excélsior at 64% against Expansión MX's 8%. Expansión MX's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (2.1 vs 1.9). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Expansión MX holds the better App Store score, 2.1 against 1.9. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 8 and 7 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 8% of Expansión MX's written reviews are positive against 64% of Excélsior's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 19, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
