Welcome to the Magnificat Angelus App! In some places, the church bells still ring daily in the morning, at noon, and in the evening. The Angelus is a very ancient prayer commemorating the Angel’s message (Angelus) to Mary, announcing to her that she will give birth to Jesus. This prayer is first and foremost a commemoration of the mystery of the Incarnation: God made man to save us all. By reciting it with a faithful heart, it allows you to unite your everyday life, its joys and sorrows, to God who became one of us. Taking precedence over any daily activity at a specific time, it reminds us “One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God” (Mt 4:4), and even more so from the Incarnate Word, our Lord Jesus Christ! In order to help you establish the habit of praying the Angelus daily, you will be given the opportunity to set up reminders at the hours most convenient for your schedule (by default at 8am, 12pm, and 8pm). You will also be able to watch weekly videos of the Angelus recited by the Pope along with the faithful gathered in Saint Peter’s Square at the Vatican. Your Angelus app is available in Latin and in every language of the MAGNIFICAT editions: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese and Slovenian. Note: The Regina Coeli is said during the Easter season (from Easter Sunday to the day prior to Pentecost). The Angelus is said during the rest of the year. MAGNIFICAT is a monthly publication designed for daily use, to encourage both liturgical and personal prayer. It can be used to follow daily Mass and can also be read at home or wherever you find yourself for personal or family prayer. Every day, in a convenient, pocket-sized format, MAGNIFICAT offers beautiful prayers for both morning and evening inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours. It also includes the official texts of daily Mass, meditations written by spiritual giants of the Church and more contemporary authors, essays on the lives of the saints of today and yesterday, and articles giving valuable spiritual insight into masterpieces of sacred art. Try MAGNIFICAT. Your prayer life will never be the same!
