The native Apple Watch Compass packs a lot into a small screen. Big North takes the opposite approach: giant, high-contrast, color-coded direction letters you can read instantly, with elevation, step count and GPS distance just a swipe away. FIRST: Large, color-coded compass headings • Red for west • Green for east • Yellow for northerly bearings • Black for southerly bearings SECOND: Swipe to see elevation in both meters and feet. THIRD: Swipe again to see GPS distance traveled in kilometers and miles, along with your step count. Big North keeps navigation simple. No clutter, no tiny text and no complicated controls. It is designed for hiking, walking, boating and travel, or anywhere you want a quick sense of direction. I have more than half a century of wilderness and backcountry experience and have cycled, backpacked and guided in places from Sierra Leone to Nicaragua and beyond. I built Big North to be useful in the real world and I hope it helps other travelers wherever they roam. Written first for Kim.
