Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ads: WorkTimes at none against Hours X's shown. WorkTimes also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). Hours X's advantage is ratings volume (505 vs 73) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 18.6). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WorkTimes sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Hours X sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

WorkTimes holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hours X has 505 ratings behind it against 73, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of WorkTimes's written reviews are positive against 82% of Hours X's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

WorkTimes ships an update every 3 weeks, Hours X every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 22, 2026 and September 18, 2026 respectively.
