Range cooking thermometer also leads on review sentiment (70% vs 56%) and ratings volume (11 vs 1). iRecipeBook's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 3.7) and chart position (#125 vs unranked). Range cooking thermometer is free to download; iRecipeBook costs $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
iRecipeBook holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Range cooking thermometer has 11 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of iRecipeBook's written reviews are positive against 70% of Range cooking thermometer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
