This app turns your iPhone into a geological compass, a tool for each geologist. It can be used to measure the direction of dip and the angle of dip of geological strata. The app shows the current device orientation in a realtime stereographic projection. The data can be previewed in projection diagrams (Wulff and Schmidt Net) and transferred to your computer. You can add text to the measurements and plot the measurement localities on a map.

OutcropediApp is an initiative run by TecTask, the Commission on Tectonics and Structural Geology of the IUGS (International Union of Geological Sciences). It aims to valorize geological field data and to freely share the best outcrop photos among Geology professionals and lovers. OutcropediApp makes it very easy to share photos of geological outcrops and to create geo-tours. This app will allow you to: - share photos of the outcrops directly from the field, using your smartphone - easily find information on the best outcrops worldwide or those close to your position - have a freely available database of geological structures, also for teaching and informative purposes A final remark! Please, do not destroy the outcrops, take a photo and use your hammer only for scale!
