Partial Quotients Division helps students learn and practice the partial quotients division method step by step. The app gives students a visual way to solve division problems by making a series of estimates, subtracting partial products, and adding the partial quotients together. This can make division easier to understand than the traditional long division algorithm. Students can solve randomly generated problems or enter their own division problems. The Partial Quotients Method: In the partial quotients method, students divide by making estimates that are easy for them to use. For example, in 992 ÷ 8, a student might first estimate 100, leaving 192. Then the student might estimate 20, leaving 32. Finally, 8 goes into 32 four times. The result is found by adding the partial quotients: 100 + 20 + 4 = 124. Different students can use different estimates, making the method flexible and easier to understand. Teacher endorsements: “The math apps by Esa Helttula allow students to practice and reinforce the specific computation strategies taught in class, with as much or as little scaffolding as necessary. They also provide individualized feedback to each student, with an immediacy that is not always possible through pencil and paper practice.” — Rita Zeni, Ecole Sandy Hill Elementary, Abbotsford, BC, Canada “There are students who see my examples who still need some guidance, and after using your app have said, ‘Now I get it.’ The feature of selecting possible solutions in each step helps some of my students who are still building their multiplication facts.” — Zachariah R. Prowell, Highlands Elementary, Edina, Minnesota, USA Features: - Step-by-step partial quotients division practice - Dividend can have 2–5 digits - Divisor can have 1 or 2 digits - Randomly generated or manually entered problems - Current operation can be hidden - Operands of the current operation can be highlighted - Customizable interface colors - Adjustable animation speed Other iDevBooks Math Apps: Other iDevBooks math apps include Column Addition, Long Multiplication, Long Division, Column Subtraction, Visual Multiplication Table, Partial Differences Subtraction, Partial Products Multiplication, Partial Sums Addition, Decimal Rounding, and more. Gifted Star builds the same skills schools test to identify gifted students. These tests don't measure ordinary schoolwork like math and reading. They test gifted reasoning, a skill rarely practiced in class. Doing well on a school's gifted test can open doors to gifted programs, advanced classes, and opportunities most kids never get. Beyond the test, research shows that these reasoning skills give kids an advantage for life. They help kids spot patterns faster, solve unfamiliar problems, and confidently take on new challenges in and out of school. Research has also linked gifted ability in childhood to greater academic and professional achievement later in life. With Gifted Star, kids build those same skills by practicing the same question types found on real gifted tests: CogAT, NNAT, GATE, CCAT, OLSAT, and more. Just 5 minutes a day. Whether you're preparing for the test or just building the skills. Gifted Star does both. Here to build gifted reasoning skills? Jump right in. Here for gifted & talented test prep?
