Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Rock Drum Machine Lite at none against Drum Beats's shown. Rock Drum Machine Lite also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 16 months) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Drum Beats's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (962 vs 131). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Drum Beats holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Drum Beats has 962 ratings behind it against 131, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 76% of Drum Beats's written reviews are positive against 85% of Rock Drum Machine Lite's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Drum Beats ships an update every 16 months, Rock Drum Machine Lite every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
