SoHO Viewer is a simple application for downloading and displaying the latest images taken by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SoHO). It includes push notifications so you can be notified by a badge on the application when new images are available. It was quoted as “one of the ten best free applications to have on your iphone if you like stargazing:” http://www.networkworld.com/news/2010/112210-free-iphone-stargazing-apps.html It appears in Mars 2015 edition of Sky And Telescope, page 70. Images are courtesy of SOHO consortium. SOHO is a project of international cooperation between ESA and NASA. Launch Date : July 30, 2020 Landing Date : Feb. 18, 2021 Location: Jezero Crater, Mars The Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover will search for signs of ancient microbial life, which will advance NASA's quest to explore the past habitability of Mars. The rover has a drill to collect core samples of Martian rock and soil, then store them in sealed tubes for pickup by a future mission that would ferry them back to Earth for detailed analysis. Perseverance will also test technologies to help pave the way for future human exploration of Mars. Strapped to the rover's belly for the journey to Mars is a technology demonstration — the Mars Helicopter, Ingenuity, may achieve a "Wright Brothers moment “ by testing the first powered flight on the Red Planet.
