iInteract is a free communication board for children with autism, apraxia, Down syndrome, and other communication needs. Tap a picture, hear the word out loud — clear, simple, and built to grow with your child. WHAT'S INSIDE • Choose your board language — English, Español, or 中文 (Mandarin Chinese). Every built-in board shows and speaks in the language you pick, so a bilingual home or classroom finally has a board that fits. • Seven ready-made panels covering feelings, needs, and everyday activities • Three ways to use the app — fresh installs start with Customize so you can add your own panels right away: – Customize — add your own panels with your own pictures and recorded voice – Configurable — hide panels you don't use and reorder the rest – Default — bundled panels only, nothing changes • Make the built-in boards your own — rename any built-in panel or word to match the words your child already knows, and reset to the original any time. • Add a picture from your camera, your photo library, or a file you've saved — including AAC symbols you already own. • Show the word under each picture — display each interaction's word printed beneath its picture to help emerging readers connect the symbol with the word. Turn it on or off any time in Settings → Display. • Audio feedback for every tap — each picture speaks its word aloud to reinforce the link between symbol and speech. Choose a boy or girl voice, record your own familiar voice, or turn sound off for visual-only use. • Keep the screen on while your child is choosing — 1, 5, or 10 minutes, or "until I leave the app" for kids who study the picture board for a long time. • Set it up once, use it everywhere. Your panels, PIN, voice choice, and settings travel with you between iPhone, iPad, and Mac. • Pick how you reach parent settings: a visible gear icon, or hold down the "iInteract" title at the top (recommended — your child can't trigger it, and the app returns to kid view on its own after 10 minutes) • Optional 4-digit parent PIN. Forgot it? Answer your security question and the PIN clears — no need to delete and reinstall the app. • Guided Access integration — toggle "Lock Editor" in iOS's Guided Access Options sheet to lock down the gear icon with one tap • Apple Watch — your built-in panels mirror to the watch for quick out-of-the-house use • Mac app with its own settings window — same app, same panels, no separate download WHO IT'S FOR Parents, therapists, special-education teachers, and speech-language pathologists working with emerging communicators. Designed with — and used by — families of children with autism, apraxia, Down syndrome, and other communication needs. PRIVACY No data collection. No tracking. No accounts. Your panels, pictures, and voice recordings stay on your device and (if you opt in) in your private iCloud account. Apple sees CloudKit data as encrypted blobs they cannot open. Linggo makes communication accessible for people who have difficulty speaking. Linggo is an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) platform that comprises 2 applications, Linggo Learner and Linggo Coach. Designed with a behaviour analytic perspective and created in collaboration with Speech-Language Pathologists, Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Linggo incorporates evidence-based strategies to support the development of language, functional communication, speech and literacy skills (sight reading), while monitoring progress using data driven technology. The Linggo Learner app is intended for individuals who have difficulty or are unable to speak. The Linggo Coach app is intended for clinicians, care partners and parents who wish to monitor progress. Intuitive Interface Word finding is made easier when words appear based on personal context, relevance and grammatical order. Linggo Library With a robust library of over 4000 words with grammatical markers, users can create and add meaningful vocabulary to help the individual build their language skills. All images are licensed from TobiiDynavox. Language Trees (Communicator) Teach sentence structures through Language Trees. Whether you're just beginning with nouns or teaching subject-verb-object combinations, Linggo can be customized to grow with the Learner's language profile. Free Form Generative novel phrases and sentences in the moment and as needed. Use Linggo’s library or photos/images from your own device to spontaneously generate novel words, phrases and sentences. Quick Chat Functional communication is made easier with Quickchat. Phrases such as “I need the washroom.” “My way, please” and “Help me” can be expressed easily through a single tap. Transition to Text Linggo offers the Transition To Text feature which encourages the Learner to learn sight words rather than relying solely on pictures and symbols to communicate. When Transition To Text is enabled, the picture associated with the text fades or reduces in size over time, eventually disappearing to display the text (sight word) only. Transition to Speak Linggo offers the Transition to Speak feature which uses a time delay (1 to 10 seconds) to encourage the Learner to use their voice. When this feature is enabled, the word remains silent when selected - giving the Learner the opportunity to practice their speech. Coaches and Progress Reports The support and feedback of Coaches are critical and mandatory components for the success of AAC intervention - which is why we included Coaches as active users too. Coaches collect data on Learner’s communication, which is then graphed across progress reports to help make evidence informed decisions. As an authorized BACB ACE provider, Linggo offers training/education to clinicians, parents and anyone interested in learning more. ** Learner accounts can be accessed through iPads/iPhones that allow for the latest iOS updates. Linggo Coach accounts can be accessed on any iOS mobile device.

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: iInteract at 5.0 against Linggo Learner's 3.7. iInteract also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4) and device support (5 vs 3). Linggo Learner's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 5 months) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.
