Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Documents at 626K against Pocket Docs's 40. Documents also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks) and chart position (#69 vs unranked). Pocket Docs's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. Documents sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Pocket Docs sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Pocket Docs holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Documents has 626K ratings behind it against 40, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Documents's written reviews are positive against 64% of Pocket Docs's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Documents ships an update weekly, Pocket Docs every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and September 21, 2026 respectively.
