Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: BibleRef at 87% against Bible Commentaries's 25%. BibleRef also leads on price (Free vs $2.99) and ratings volume (180 vs 3). Bible Commentaries's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months) and iOS requirement (8.1 vs 15.1). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
