About

Voltage Divider

This engineering utility calculates unknown values in a voltage divider circuit. It can solve for voltages or resistor values, displaying ideal and actual resistor options. It also shows current, power, and voltage tolerance.

Highlights
  • Solves for Vin, Vout, R1, or R2
  • Resistor picker with actual values
  • Displays ideal resistor value
  • Calculates voltage tolerance
  • Shows current and power consumption

A handy engineering utility that solves for voltages or resistor values in a common voltage divider circuit. Enter three terms (out of Vin, Vout, R1 or R2) and this app will solve for the fourth term automatically. The resistor picker will only let you pick from actual resistor values that exist. It's a great time saving tool for quickly selecting resistor values in a switching power supply design or any other circuit that incorporates a voltage divider. When solving for a voltage, select two resistor values and one of the voltages. The remaining voltage will be displayed automatically. The max and min possible voltages will also be displayed based on the resistor tolerances. The current and power through the divider will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. When solving for a resistor value, select two voltages and one resistor value. The remaining resistor value will be displayed in yellow. This is an ideal value. Use the resistor picker to select an actual resistor value close to that ideal value. You can then tell the app to solve for Vin or Vout to see if the resulting voltage meets your design requirements.

About

Proximity

This utility helps determine the correct number and facility code for access cards or fobs. It converts binary or hexadecimal card values into usable data, and can also reverse the process by generating binary values from facility codes and card numbers.

Highlights
  • Binary to number conversion
  • Hexadecimal to number conversion
  • Number to binary generation
  • Supports multiple bit lengths
  • Supports numerous card formats
  • Reverse calculation functionality

Have a "naked" access card or fob and need to determine its appropriate number and facility code? If you're able to extract the binary or hexadecimal value then Proximity will do the rest. The first calculator of Proximity works one of two ways: By inputting the raw binary value of the card or by inputting the hex equivalent. To use the binary input, simply tap on the box and type in the binary value. The counter in the lower-right corner of the box will keep track of the amount of digits currently displayed. To use the hex input, tap on the box and enter the hex value. Once complete, select the bit length from the wheel below. This is only necessary when calculating from a hex value. After tapping on calculate, the output will be displayed. If there is more than one system in the same bit length, tap on Next to cycle through the different formats. The second calculator is simply the reverse of the first:
Input the facility code, card number, select the format, and tap calculate to generate the raw binary value. More formats will be released in future versions so long as the information is acquired. If there's a format not on this app and you have the breakdown information, send it to me and I'll fulfill the request. Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Proximity at 5.0 against Voltage Divider's 2.7. Proximity also leads on update cadence (every 14 months vs every 48 months). Voltage Divider's advantage is review sentiment (56% vs 25%) and ratings volume (3 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Voltage Divider costs $1.99 and Proximity $1.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Proximity holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3 and 1 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of Voltage Divider's written reviews are positive against 25% of Proximity's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Voltage Divider ships an update every 48 months, Proximity every 14 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
