Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is price: Complication Lab at Free against Sprite Something's $4.99. Complication Lab also leads on rating (3.5 vs 2.9) and update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 2 months). Sprite Something's advantage is review sentiment (59% vs 23%) and in-app purchases (none vs 3). On ads and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Complication Lab holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sprite Something has 54 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of Sprite Something's written reviews are positive against 23% of Complication Lab's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Sprite Something ships an update every 2 months, Complication Lab every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 6, 2026 and September 2, 2026 respectively.
