Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Il Foglio at 94% against Il Post App's 53%. Il Post App's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 15) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. Il Foglio sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month. Il Post App asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Il Post App holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Il Post App has 32 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 94% of Il Foglio's written reviews are positive against 53% of Il Post App's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Il Foglio ships an update every 4 months, Il Post App every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
