Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: DER STANDARD at 35% against OÖNachrichten's 0%. DER STANDARD also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 20) and ratings volume (153 vs 2). OÖNachrichten's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OÖNachrichten sells 20 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. DER STANDARD asks for nothing beyond the download.
OÖNachrichten holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DER STANDARD has 153 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 35% of DER STANDARD's written reviews are positive against 0% of OÖNachrichten's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
DER STANDARD ships an update every 4 months, OÖNachrichten every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
