Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Flashlight ◯ at 4.7 against Light's 3.3. Flashlight ◯ also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 5 months). Light's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (93% vs 74%). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Light sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Flashlight ◯ sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Flashlight ◯ holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3.4K and 5.9K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 93% of Light's written reviews are positive against 74% of Flashlight ◯'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Light ships an update every 5 months, Flashlight ◯ every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 12, 2026.
