The Scripture Citation Index is the mobile version of scriptures.byu.edu. This app lets you navigate easily between the scriptures (standard works of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: The Holy Bible, The Book of Mormon, etc.) and the General Conference talks and other writings that cite those scriptures. For example, you can see who has cited 1 Timothy 4:12 or Daniel 2:44 in General Conference (1942-present), in the Journal of Discourses, or in Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith. Our users tell us that this app is very helpful for scripture study and lesson/talk preparation.

Pray before you scroll. PonderLock is an app blocker made for Latter-day Saints. Choose the apps that distract you, then pause for prayer before using them. Turn an everyday phone habit into a reminder to spend time with God. Make room for scripture, family, and quiet moments with the Lord. HOW IT WORKS 1. Choose the apps you want to block. 2. When you open a blocked app, take a moment to pray in PonderLock. 3. Hold to pray, then unlock your apps — or put your phone down. MADE FOR LATTER-DAY SAINT LIFE • Bring scripture into your day with a daily verse and reflection. • See your prayer habit grow with streaks and sego lily milestones. • Keep Sundays restful: Sabbath rest means Sundays never break your streak. • Reflect on how you feel and your relationship with the Lord through spiritual check-ins. YOU STAY IN CONTROL You choose which apps to block. Emergency unblocks are available when you need urgent access. PonderLock uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) to block the apps you choose. Your app list never leaves your device — Apple keeps it private, and so do we. Start with one distracting app. Make your next scroll a moment for prayer. Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Scripture Citation Index at none against PonderLock's 3. Scripture Citation Index also leads on ratings volume (3.3K vs 16) and rating (4.9 vs 4.6). PonderLock's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 6 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PonderLock sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Scripture Citation Index asks for nothing beyond the download.
Scripture Citation Index holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scripture Citation Index has 3.3K ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 97% of Scripture Citation Index's written reviews are positive against 100% of PonderLock's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Scripture Citation Index ships an update every 6 months, PonderLock weekly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
