Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: NRK at none against VG's 2. NRK also leads on ads (none vs shown). VG's advantage is ratings volume (501 vs 77). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VG sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. NRK asks for nothing beyond the download.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for VG against 4.6 for NRK. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VG has 501 ratings behind it against 77, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 63% of VG's written reviews are positive against 57% of NRK's.
VG ships an update every 11 days, NRK every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
