Logcaliper sizes log management and SIEM deployments. Pick the sources you collect from, set the retention and compression, and get the storage, the cluster capacity and the number of data nodes to hold it. It converts message rates and data volumes in any unit, decimal or binary, and puts any size in human terms. Every SIEM quote turns on two numbers: the bytes per event and the events per second. Logcaliper ships measured average event sizes for 39 common products and typical event rates for 16 source categories. To measure your own, the free profiler at logcaliper.app/profiler reads a sample of your log in the browser, with nothing uploaded. NEW IN 3.1.1: - Measure yours: beside the average message size, a link to the free profiler on logcaliper.app, opened here or sent to a computer - New rows under Settings, then About: a source that is missing, Rate Logcaliper, and logcaliper.app - Adding a source to your list no longer sends the rate or the event size you set - The privacy policy is a plain page on logcaliper.app that names every event the app sends - The rating prompt appears at most once per version, at the end of a task HIGHLIGHTS: - Storage estimate for a list of log sources: retention, compression, indexing, replication, cluster capacity and number of data nodes - Average event sizes for 39 common products, measured from more than ten million log events - Typical event rates for 16 source categories, with the condition that drives each figure: whether Sysmon is deployed, whether flows are sampled, what the database audit policy is - Conversion between message rates, per second to per month, and data rates, bits per second to exabytes per year, decimal or binary - Share of an Ethernet link for any bit or byte rate - Comparison of any data size against things you recognise, from a page of text to a gram of DNA - Long-press a conversion result to copy it, as the number or as the whole sentence with its units - Email export of an estimate with its list of sources - PCI DSS retention labels from requirement 10.5.1 of v4.0.1 - Threshold, a game that teaches the scale of data and log volumes, also on the web at logcaliper.app/threshold - Free, no account, no ads. iPhone and iPad, iOS 18 or later

Command-Line Calculator (CLCalculator) provides the most fluid interface, especially if you are performing chained calculations i.e. multiple calculations that rely on the results of previous calculations. By providing a command-line interface, CLCalculator allows you to easily enter and view the history of your calculations. You focus on your calculations instead of being intimidated by myriad of buttons on a traditional calculator interface! In addition to performing basic calculations, CLCalculator provides an array of features such as: - Assign and reuse variables - Complex numbers - Number bases i.e. binary, octal, hexadecimal - Constants e.g. e, pi - String manipulation - Matrices - Unit conversion: in-built and user-defined (create your own units!) - Functions: in-built and user-defined (create your own functions!) - Arithmetic functions e.g. fraction, square root, rounding off, ceiling, floor, logarithm - Algebra functions e.g. derivative, simplify symbolic expressions, solve linear equations - Bitwise functions e.g. bitwise and, not, or, left and right shift - Combinatorics functions e.g. Bell, Catalan, Stirling numbers - Geometry functions - Logical functions e.g. and, not, or, xor - Probability functions e.g. combinations, permutations, factorial - Relational functions - Set functions e.g. cartesian product, intersection, union - Statistics functions e.g. mean, median, mode, standard deviation, variance - Trigonometry functions e.g. sin, cos, tan, cot, sinh, acos - and much more! The app also comes with a comprehensive in-built help system with plenty of examples. CLCalculator is powered by math.js (https://mathjs.org/)
