Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Tata Play Smart at none against TarangPlus's 1. Tata Play Smart also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (3.0 vs 2.5). TarangPlus's advantage is review sentiment (20% vs 12%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). On price and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. TarangPlus sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $24.99 per year. Tata Play Smart asks for nothing beyond the download.
Tata Play Smart holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tata Play Smart has 390 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 12% of Tata Play Smart's written reviews are positive against 20% of TarangPlus's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Tata Play Smart ships an update every 2 weeks, TarangPlus monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
